Student show opens at King Plaza

The eighth annual Hispanic Student Art & Creative Writing Exhibition, a display of artwork and writings by area junior high and high school students is on display in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Plaza train station, the former Central Union Plaza, 415 Emerald Ave. The event, on view through May, is sponsored by Hispanic Outreach Toledo Public Schools, and Arts Council Lake Erie West. 20 North Gallery, 20 North St. Clair St., presents an exhibit of diverse artwork, ranging from photo realism to jewelry, of women whose studios are in the gallery. The exhibit, A Woman's View, features the work of Leslie Adams, Carol Imes-Luscombe, Claire Kirsner, Elaine Mikel, Janine Ody, Paula Tuschman, Kay Weprin, and Kelly Weik. Information: 419-241-2400.

The American Gallery, 6600 Sylvania Ave., Sylvania, presents watercolors by David Herzig. The solo exhibition, Herzig's third at the gallery, runs through June 4 and features a flower theme: peonies, water lilies, and tulips with some works nearly 4 feet by 6 feet in size. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Alex Hamilton's Restaurant, 1111 Adams St., presents Black & White, an exhibition of charcoal drawings by Yoko Hodge, through June 8. Information: 419-255-2775.

Owens-Illinois Gallery, One SeaGate, is the site of the newly named Quilting for Black Swamp, an annual quilt exhibition formerly titled Quilting for Sunshine. The display, to open today and run through June 2, features handcrafted quilts and wall hangings made to benefit Black Swamp Benefit, Inc., a nonprofit agency established to raise funds for Sunshine, Inc., of Northwest Ohio and the Mennonite Central Committee.

The Sandusky Cultural Center, 2130 Hayes Ave., Sandusky, Ohio, presents Ink, Press, Process, an exhibition of print works by Deborah Geurtze, Anya Belyat Giunta, Joan Hall, Callie G. The Findlay Art League, 117 West Crawford St., Findlay, Ohio, presents its 55th annual May Art Show, a display of oil paintings, watercolors, prints, photography, ceramics, and drawings by League artists.
