Exhibit showcases 41 images by a nature-photography master
8/4/2005The enchanting work of Jim Brandenburg, 59, one of the titans of modern nature photography, will be on display through Oct. 31 at the National Center for Nature Photography at Secor Metropark.
The traveling exhibit from the James Ford Bell Museum of Natural History at the University of Minnesota features 41 photos from the man who was twice named Magazine Photographer of the Year by the National Press Photographers Association. A public open house will be from 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow in the center.
"The man's just everywhere right now," said Art Weber, director of the center, which has three of Brandenburg's photos in its permanent collection. "He has a way of looking at the world and capturing the moment. It's just different from everybody else's."
The exhibit includes breathtaking views from some of the world's most picturesque locations. Brandenburg completed 19 assignments for the National Geographic Society, and some photographs in the show come from his travels chronicling arctic wolves, African wildlife, and scenes from the upper Midwest.
The "Photography of Jim Brandenburg" exhibit will be at the National Center for Nature Photography at Secor Metropark from tomorrow to Oct. 31.
