Museum plans Africana exhibit

7/31/2008

An exhibition of Africana, on loan from the Toledo Zoo, will fill the Toledo Museum of Art's Little Theater Gallery from Aug. 8 to Oct. 5. Objects were collected or created by Carl Akeley, a naturalist, taxidermist, explorer, and artist who gathered African shields, baskets, and personal adornments during his trips to Africa in the early 20th century.

Also in the museum, Tom Loeffler will discuss printmaking techniques, various types of papers, and the quality and condition of prints at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 in the Libbey Court. Loeffler manages the museum's collection of works on paper.
