Arts groups can apply for stimulus money

Arts organizations that have staff members who have been laid off or whose jobs are at risk of being eliminated can apply for a share of $200,000 in recently awarded federal stimulus money.

Eligible are nonprofit organizations providing artistic and cultural programming in these counties: Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, Wyandot, Hancock, Wood, Putnam, Allen, Van Wert, Fulton, Henry, Williams, Defiance, and Paulding. Grants will range from $5,000 to $25,000.

The funds are available through the Arts Jobs Preservation Grant Program, administered by the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo and the Toledo Community Foundation.

The application deadline is Aug. 14. An informational session will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Room 813 of the Edison Building, 300 Madison Ave. Reservations are required by calling 419-254-2787 by Wednesday.
