Art fair includes fun, musical acts for the whole family

Sylvania Community Arts Commission and the Sylvania Chamber of Commerce are gearing up for the city's second annual Maple and Main Art Fair. The event will be held this weekend in the streets of historic downtown Sylvania. In addition to art exhibits and sales, more than 70 artists will participate this year, 11 musical acts will perform, and a children's area and food vendors will be set up. The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Musical acts on Saturday include Interrupters, 44 Days, Aaron Stark, DeCamp Sisters, Jack & the Bear, and Barile and May. On Sunday, Microphonics, Wannabees, Old State Line, Barile and May, Andrew Ellis and the Americanos will take the stage. Concerts run from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to close Sunday. The sounds of music will again fill the Levis Square area of downtown Toledo when Lunch at Levis Square returns today. The Downtown Toledo Improvement District is sponsoring the free concerts each Thursday through Aug. 29. The music begins at noon and ends at 1:30 p.m. Bliss, a folk and acoustic band, will perform today. Levis Square is at the intersection of Madison Avenue and North St. Clair Street. Sunset & City Lights Cruises will start again Sunday. Guests can cruise up the Maumee River and enjoy views of stately homes, yacht clubs, and wildlife, or catch the sunset around Walbridge Park. The cruises run from 8 to 10 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 11. Tickets are $20 per person and include snacks. Advance reservations are required. Information: sandpiperboat.com.
