Crosby Festival features fine art

More than 200 artists from around the country will showcase and sell their works at the Crosby Festival of the Arts this weekend at the Toledo Botanical Garden. The festival, now in its 48th year, will include ceramics, fiber, glass, graphics, jewelry, wood, photography, painting, and sculpture. The event also will feature live entertainment, food, and beverages and will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Adult admission is $8 and children age 12 and younger are admitted free. Discount tickets are available at The Andersons stores. A gala preview party will kick off the festival on Friday. It will give guests an opportunity to purchase artists' works before the festival opens to the public. Chef Marcel Fine Catering will cater the event, which will include live entertainment and cocktails. The annual party takes place in the garden and benefits TBG. The annual Books 4 Buddies book donation drive kicks off Saturday at Westfield Franklin Park mall with live music by Jean Holden and a magic show by Eli Portala. Toledo authors Joe Kelley and Nick Rokicki will read from and sign copies of their book, Casey and Callie Cupcake. Children can decorate cupcakes with Lori Jacobs and Dana Iliev, owners of Cake in a Cup. The event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. in the courtyard between bd's Mongolian Grill and Macy's. The Walbridge Centennial Committee will hold several fund-raisers Saturday to benefit the village's upcoming 100th anniversary celebration. Susie's Skillet on Main Street in Walbridge will donate 10 percent of meal proceeds from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Registration for the village pub crawl begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Walbridge Nite Club, next door to the restaurant. Registration is $5. Walbridge memorabilia, including centennial cookbooks, alumni books (classes of 1911-2012), centennial T-shirts, and memorial bricks for the Loop Park Centennial area and Walbridge souvenir booklets will be on sale.
