Production delayed a week for 08 Liberty

The redesigned 2008 Jeep Liberty will go into production one week later than planned at the Toledo Jeep Assembly complex.

The new version of the vehicle was scheduled to begin rolling off the assembly line Monday. However, a DaimlerChrysler AG spokesman said changes in the plant for the new model will delay production until July 23.

The plant that builds the Liberty and the Dodge Nitro shut down production July 2, and the plant that builds the Jeep Wrangler closed a week later. Both facilities are expected to resume making vehicles on July 23.

The new Liberty is to be on dealers lots by fall.
