United Auto Workers at Chrysler Group LLC’s Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg Township have rejected a tentative contract with the automaker in voting Wednesday.

According to postings on Local 1435’s Facebook page, the proposed contract was rejected by 70 percent of the plant’s approximately 800 hourly workers who cast ballots.

Toledo Machining, which manufactures steering columns and torque converters for most Chrysler-made vehicles, had been awarded $72 million in additional investment from the automaker in September to improve and expand its product lines.

Voting at Chrysler’s Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance Plant in Dundee is scheduled to take place Sunday, while voting at Chrysler’s Toledo Assembly complex is scheduled for Monday, local union officials said.
