Chrysler's June sales up 20 percent over last year

Chrysler Group LLC sold almost 145,000 vehicles in June, an increase of 20 percent over last year.

General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. also reported gains over last June.

GM said it sold 248,750 cars and trucks last month, up 16 percent from 2011. Ford posted a 7 percent gain to 207,759 vehicles.

All major automakers are expected to report their June sales today. Analysts expect sales to hit 13.9 million on a seasonally adjusted annual rate in June.

The Toledo-built Jeep Wrangler was again Chrysler Group’s second-best selling vehicle for the month, with 14,461 sold. Wrangler sales were up 28 percent from last June. Sales of the Jeep Liberty, which is also built in Toledo, were up 50 percent over last year to 7,892
