Yark listed among best dealerships to work for
7/13/2013The Automotive News has named five of Yark Automotive Group’s dealerships among the best 100 dealerships to work for in the United States.
The auto industry trade publication released its annual list earlier this week. Yark’s BMW, Fiat, Nissan, Subaru, and Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram franchises all made the list. All are on the section of Central Avenue near U.S. 23 containing numerous auto dealerships.
“We’re real excited about that,” said John Yark, the owner of Yark Automotive Group. “At the end of the day if you’ve got happy employees, you’ve got happy customers.”
The only other Ohio dealership to make the list was Porsche of Beachwood in suburban Cleveland. Three Michigan dealerships made this year’s list.
Automotive News partners with a Pennsylvania-based research company to rank participating dealerships in a two-part assessment that surveys both the employer and employees. The ranking of the 100 companies will be announced in October at an Automotive News-sponsored banquet in Chicago.
Mr. Yark said the recognition is significant considering the number of dealerships in the Untied States. According to the National Automobile Dealers Association, there were 17,540 franchised new-car dealerships in the United States in 2012. Automotive News didn't say how many were included in its surveys.
“I think it’s just an indication you're doing things the right way when you’re recognized like this,” he said.
Companywide, Yark Automotive employs more than 350 people. Mr. Yark said the employment figure is an all-time high. The group also set a sales record last year, selling about 8,400 new and used vehicles. Yark claims it is the largest volume northwest Ohio auto dealer for 17 years consecutively. Last year, Yark Chevrolet in Whitehouse was named one of the top 100 dealerships.
