Officials and workers at the Jefferson North plant in Detroit celebrated Tuesday as a Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled off the line.

It was the 5 millionth vehicle built since the first Grand Cherokee was built at the plant in 1992.

Jeep donated Tuesday's milestone vehicle to the USO as part of the company's commitment to the U.S. military.

The 3-million-square-foot plant employs almost 4,500 people, including 1,100 added in October because of high demand for the Grand Cherokee. The plant also builds the Dodge Durango.
