For four years, Taylor Automotive Family has awarded a car to a Perrysburg High School senior.

Now the “Driven to Succeed” program is expanding.

Steve Taylor will award one Lucas County senior a new 2014 Kia Forte.

“We think it’s important to give back to our community and help motivate students to achieve academic excellence,” Mr. Taylor said. “The encouragement of positive actions will enable students to commit and strive toward achievable goals in their senior year, future careers, and personal lives.”

Any student at one of the 28 high schools in Lucas County can qualify for the drawing. A student’s name can be entered multiple times based on the following criteria: Each “A” received per quarter, each sport or extracurricular activity they are involved in, and teachers’ recommendations. Students must be clear of disciplinary issues, and submissions are deducted for excessive days absent.

Near the end of the school year, a winner will be chosen from all the entries. The Kia Forte will be awarded at a ceremony at Fifth Third Field in June, 2014.

Numerous runner-up prizes also will be awarded.

And with the automotive group having expanded to the Findlay and Lima areas, another new Forte will be given to a senior in Allen or Hancock County. Twenty-two schools from those counties have been invited to participate.

In a statement, Mr. Taylor said the entire community benefits by honoring and promoting good student behavior, academic excellence, participation in extracurricular activities, and exemplary attendance.
