Elmwood Football 2014

BLADE STAFF

Coach: Brian Cooper, 3rd year

Last season: 1-9, 1-6 NBC

Returning letter winners: 10

Returning starters: Offense 5, defense 3

Schemes: Pistol Option/4-4

Top players: Seniors Keyon Camden, 6-2, 175, WR/DB; Austin Jasso, 5-11, 180, FB. Sophomore Noah Baker, 5-10, 170, QB.

Outlook: Cooper said he likes his team’s athleticism, camaraderie, and work ethic.

Baker completed 44 of 82 passes for 543 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman.

Among 35 players on the varsity, Cooper has nine seniors.

He said lack of depth and varsity experience along with an abundance of youth are potential trouble areas.

Cooper said one key is having success during Elmwood's non-conference schedule, which includes games at Gibsonburg, against Hopewell-Loudon, and at Toledo Christian.

“An early win would be a huge confidence boost for such a young team,” Cooper said. “Our success will come as we mature and get used to varsity speed.”
