St. Ursula

Cox closed her outstanding volleyball career with the Arrows last week in a Division I regional semifinal against Cleveland St. Joseph Academy, producing 52 digs in a 25-23, 25-23, 16-25, 25-19 loss to the Jaguars. The 5-foot-3 libero closed her season with a team-high 509 digs, an average of 19.6 per match.

The Michigan State commit was recently named to the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Division I All-Ohio first team for the third straight year after earning honorable mention All-Ohio honors as a freshman.

“She anticipates so well that she gets balls most people wouldn’t,” coach Sydney Antonio said. “Her intensity is something I wish I could instill in every athlete.”

St. Ursula had a 105-8 overall record during Cox’s career. The Arrows were 29-1 and state runners-up in 2013, 28-1 with a state semifinal loss in 2014, and 25-3 with a state semifinal loss last year. All three of those state tournament defeats came against eventual champion Cincinnati Mt. Notre Dame.

This season, the Arrows finished 23-3.

Before the season, Cox was named to the USA Today preseason All-America team.
