Women's basketball preview: Bowling Green at Central Michigan

Last game: BG lost at home to Northern Illinois 73-71 on Saturday; Central Michigan lost at Marshall 53-49 in overtime on Saturday.

Outlook: The Falcons have lost three in a row and five of their last six and look to get back on track with a conference win on the road. In the home loss on Saturday, Northern Illinois' Jennifer Youngblood converted a three-point play with 7.5 seconds left to give the Huskies the one-point win. BG had taken the lead on a basket by Francine Miller with 27 seconds to play. Miller had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead BG. “That one stings a little bit,” BG coach Curt Miller said about the home loss. “We thought we were where we were supposed to be, being 2-4 [in the MAC] and taking care of our home court. You have an opportunity, down to the wire, to win a home game.” The second-year coach voiced concern over his team's rebounding, and the opposition's second-chance baskets. “They [Northern Illinois] only outrebounded us by three, but still, they doubled us on second-chance points, and you lose sleep about the big offensive rebound and put-back,” he said. “Rebounding remains a concern.” The Falcons beat Central Michigan 63-45 two weeks ago at Anderson Arena. The Chippewas, who hit just 13 of 51 shots from the field for 25.5 percent in the overtime loss at Marshall on Saturday, are led by Bowling Green native and Toledo Central Catholic graduate Desiree Eidson, who averages about 15 points a game. Central Michigan has lost five of its last six games.
