Kent beats Bowling Green, 77-64

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio Julian Sullinger scored 20 points and Kent State shot 60 percent from the floor as the Golden Flashes beat Bowling Green 77-64 tonight.

The Golden Flashes (20-9, 12-3 Mid-American Conference) made 31 of 51 shots, outrebounded the Falcons (12-17, 2-13) 39-21, scored 54 points in the paint and scored 17 points off turnovers. With the win, Kent State kept pace with Akron in the MAC s Eastern Division.

With 16:57 to play in the first half, Bowling Green held an 8-7 lead. Sullinger s jumper five seconds later gave Kent State a lead it would never relinquish. The Golden Flashes took a 41-29 lead at the half and never led by fewer than seven points in the second half.

Ryne Hamblet scored 21 points for Bowling Green and Martin Samarco added 14. Haminn Quaintance scored 15 for Kent State and Rodriquez Sherman added 14.
