Canisius drops BGSU in overtime
2/21/2009BOWLING GREEN Nate Miller turned in a performance of immediate and historical significance, but it wasn t enough for Bowling Green State University to avoid a 71-66 loss to Canisius in overtime Saturday.
The loss was the Falcons second straight at home to a team under .500. Canisius, of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, entered the game with an 8-18 record and was playing BGSU as a part of ESPNU s BracketBusters series.
The Falcons (15-11) also lost to Mid-American Conference bottom-dwelling Eastern Michigan at home on Feb. 15.
Miller, a senior, scored a career-high 22 points Saturday to become the 37th player in BGSU history to score 1,000 career points. He scored 15 of those points after halftime, including a 3-pointer with seven seconds left that sent the game to overtime.
Miller is just the fourth Falcon ever to register 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 125 steals, joining Anthony Stacey, David Jenkins, and Joe Moore.
Greg Logins led Canisius with 19 points.
