BG women fall to Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team scored just 18 points in the second half to suffer a 66-55 loss at Western Michigan Saturday.

The Falcons, who led by 13 points at halftime, fell to 17-4 overall and 5-3 in the Mid-American Conference with the loss. It marked the second straight MAC setback for BG, which had not lost back-to-back league contests since dropping three in a row Jan. 22-30, 2008.

Sophomore Chrissy Steffen scored 12 points but was the only player to finish in double digits for the Falcons. Senior Jen Uhl had eight points and 12 rebounds while senior Maggie Hennegan added six points and 10 boards.

Senior Lauren Prochaska made just 1-of-10 shots from the field, and missed all five of her 3-point attempts, to finish with just four points in 36 minutes.

Brenna Banktson had 19 points and seven rebounds to lead Western Michigan (6-15, 2-6), which also got 14 points and six boards from Taylor Manley along with 11 points and seven rebounds from Ebony Cleary.
