Basalyga named coach for Bowling Green women’s soccer

BOWLING GREEN — Lindsay Basalyga was named Bowling Green State University women's soccer coach, the school said on Thursday. Basagyla will begin her duties on Jan. 14.

Basalyga spent the last eight seasons as coach at Eastern Kentucky, where she started the program. Prior to that she spent just over three years as an assistant at the University of Toledo.

A native of Cincinnati, Basalyga was a standout soccer player at the Maryland, where she helped the Terrapins advance to the NCAA College Cup in each of her four seasons.

Basalyga is the daughter of John and Linda Basalyga, both BGSU graduates. Her father was a member of the 1972 Falcons baseball team that won the school's first Mid-American Conference title. He is the men’s soccer coach at Northern Kentucky, where he led the Norse to the NCAA Division II national championship in 2010.
