Linebacker coach named for Bowling Green State University football team

BOWLING GREEN – Robert Neviaser has been named as an assistant coach for the Bowling Green State University football team.

Neviaser will coach the linebackers and replaces Clark Lea, who left to join the staff at Syracuse.

Neviaser spent the past two seasons at Stony Brook University, which is located roughly 50 miles east of New York City. Nevaiser served as the Seawolves defensive coordinator and defensive line coach, helping the team advance to the playoffs each year. This past season with the Seawolves his defense ranked fourth in the nation in scoring defense and sixth nationally in total defense.

Prior to Stony Brook he spent three years at Rhode Island, serving as defensive line coach each season while acting as defensive coordinator for the last two. Neviaser spent five seasons at the University of Delaware from 2002-06, helping the Blue Hens to a 41-22 record and a Division I-AA national title in 2003.

Neviaser has also spent time at Yale (1997-2002; outside linebackers), Boston College (1995-97; graduate assistant), Harvard (1994-95; offensive line assistant) and King’s College (1993-94; intern).

“We are very fortunate to get a coach with Rob’s experience level and familiarity with our defensive scheme,” BG coach Dave Clawson said in a release. “Rob has a great reputation as a defensive coordinator, is an excellent teacher of defensive fundamentals and has a proven track record of being a successful recruiter. Rob also has a understanding of the emphasis we place on academics and overall character development of our student-athletes.”

Alex Stadler also has joined the Falcons football staff as a graduate assistant. Stadler was a three-time all-conference offensive lineman at Liberty University, helping the team to three Big South Championships from 2008-10.

Prior to joining BGSU, Stadler spent the 2011 season at Liberty as a graduate assistant and the 2012 season as a graduate assistant at Richmond.
