AVON, Ohio — The Bowling Green State University baseball team advanced in the Mid-American Conference tournament Friday, beating Toledo 4-3. The win over the Rockets was the fourth in four tries this season for BG. The Falcons (22-28) will play the winner of Toledo and Buffalo at 12:30 p.m. today.

The Rockets were scheduled to play late Friday night.

Mike Frank threw a complete game for the win at All Pro Freight Stadium, striking out five Rockets. Frank (5-7) is now third all-time in school history for innings pitched in a single season with 97 1/3.

BG broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the eighth when UT shortstop Nate Langhals bobbled the ball enabling Jesse Rait to score.

The Falcons were able to overcome an early deficit for the third straight game, as Toledo got two singles in the first inning to jump out to a 1-0 lead. Frank would settle in from there, retiring nine straight Rockets before allowing another hit.

BG’s Jake Thomas drove in one of his team’s two runs in the fourth on a sacrifice fly and doubled in the sixth to plate another runner.

UT’s Kyle Shaw (5-8) went 7 2/3 innings, allowing nine hits and four runs (two earned). Ben Hammer drove in two runs for UT.
