BG defeats Murray St. 41-7

BOWLING GREEN -- The Bowling Green State University football team defeated Murray State 41-7 at Doyt Perry Stadium today.

The Falcons finished with 660 yards of total offense, including 378 yards passing. BG quarterback Matt Johnson completed 19-of-22 passes for 244 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Travis Greene ran for 133 yards and score to lead the rushing attack.

Murray State, which entered the game averaging 46 points and 432 yards per contest, finished with just seven points and 312 yards of total offense.

 

THIRD QUARTER

The Bowling Green State University football team leads Murray State 41-7 after three quarters at Doyt Perry Stadium today.

Leading 27-0 at the half, the Falcons drove 68 yards on four plays on their first drive of the quarter, with Andre Givens scoring on a nine-yard run at 11:47 of the period.

Murray State avoided a shutout with a touchdown at 8:10 of the period when Jaamal Berry scored on a two-yard run.

But the Falcons responded with a six-play, 61-yard drive that was capped by a one-yard run by William Houston with 4:56 left in the quarter.

 

HALFTIME

The Falcons scored three times in the second quarter. Travis Greene capped a 99-yard drive with an eight-yard TD run at 12:13 of the quarter, and Matt Johnson scored on a seven-yard run at 8:31.

BG then drove 97 yards in the final 5:08 of the quarter, with Johnson throwing his second touchdown pass of the game to Chris Gallon with seven seconds left in the half. That pass play covered 1 yard.

 

FIRST QUARTER

The Falcons scored on their second possession, driving 63 yards on eight plays. Matt Johnson threw a four-yard TD pass to Chris Gallon with 7:40 left in the period.

Murray State intercepted a Johnson pass late in the quarter and drove down the field before Maikhail Miller fumbled close to the goal line and Paul Swan recovered on the 1.
