B.G. hangs it on Miami, 45-3

Falcons using big drives, defense in dominating Redhawks.

OXFORD, Ohio — The Bowling Green State University football team defeated Miami 45-3 at Yager Stadium tonight.

The Falcons improved to 6-3 on the season and are bowl-eligible for the second year in a row. BG now is 4-1 in Mid-American Conference play.

Miami is 0-9 overall and 0-5 in the MAC and has lost 13 in a row.

The Falcons rolled to 447 yards of total offense and outscored the RedHawks 38-0 in the middle two quarters.

 

ThIRD QUARTER

The Bowling Green State University football team scored three more third-quarter touchdowns and leads Miami University 45-3 after three quarters at Yager Stadium tonight.

The Falcons got a one-yard TD run by Matt Johnson, an 11-yard fumble return for a score by BooBoo Gates and a 38-yard scoring strike by Johnson to Chris Pohlman.

Bowling Green has 417 yards of total offense through three quarters, while Miami has just 174.

 

SECOND QUARTER

The Bowling Green State University football team leads Miami University 24-3 at halftime at Yager Stadium tonight.

The Falcons scored 17 points in the second quarter, starting with a 29-yard field goal by Tyler Tate with 9:15 left in the quarter.

BG forced a Miami fumble on the RedHawks 29, and William Houston capped a short drive with a two-yard TD run at 6:45 of the period.

Then the Falcons drove 69 yards in 2:17 to score with 1:19 left in the half. Matt Johnson threw an 18-yard scoring strike to Alex Bayer for the touchdown.

 

FIRST QUARTER

The Bowling Green State University football team leads Miami University 7-3 after one quarter at Yager Stadium tonight.

The Falcons drove 80 yards on 9 plays to score the only touchdown of the quarter, with Matt Johnson connecting with Shaun Joplin on a 6-yard TD pass.

Miami's points came on a 51-yard field goal by Kaleb Patterson with 55 seconds left in the quarter.
