BGSU hockey team picks up 1st road victory against No. 18 Minnesota St.

MANKATO, Minn. — The Bowling Green State University hockey team got its first Western Collegiate Hockey Association road victory on Friday by dispatching No. 18 Minnesota State 4-3.

The Falcons (5-2-2 overall, 3-0-0 WCHA) scored two shorthanded goals in the second period from Dan DeSalvo and Adam Berkle to give BG a 3-1 lead against the preseason league favorite according to media and coaches polls that were conducted.

Brent Tate scored for Bowling Green in the first period to tie the game at 1-all, while Pierre-Luc Mercier added what became the game-winning goal in the second to give BG a 4-2 lead.

The two teams play the second game of the series today at 8:07 p.m.
