BOWLING GREEN — Minnesota State’s Bryce Gervais scored at the 1:30 mark of overtime Saturday to give the Mavericks a 3-2 win over the Bowling Green State University hockey team at the BG Ice Arena.

The game was the second straight overtime game between the two teams over the weekend, and third in a row this season.

The Falcons fell to 6-5-3 overall and 4-3-1 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Minnesota State, the preseason pick to win the WCHA, is 5-7 overall and 3-3 in the league.

But Minnesota State started to come back with a second-period goal as Matt Leitner scored on the power play at 16:38.

The Mavericks tied the game at the 8:40 mark of the final period when J.P. Lafontaine scored on the power play, setting the stage for the game-winning goal by Gervais.
