BG's Joplin named player of the week

BOWLING GREEN -- Bowling Green State University wide receiver Shaun Joplin has been named Mid-American Conference East Division offensive player of the week, the league announced today.

The senior caught six passes for a career-high 149 yards and a touchdown as the Falcons clinched a spot in the MAC Championship game with a 24-7 win at Buffalo Friday.

The Southview High School product exploded in the second half against the Bulls, making five catches for 139 yards. Among those grabs was a 23-yard scoring strike from quarterback Matt Johnson and a 62-yard catch that set up another BG TD.

The Falcons will play Northern Illinois in the MAC Championship game Friday at Detroit's Ford Field starting at 8 p.m.
