BGSU's Bayer to play in the East-West Shrine Game

BOWLING GREEN -- Bowling Green State University's Alex Bayer has accepted an invitational to play in the East-West Shrine Game, a post-season college all-star game.

Bayer, a senior tight end, will be the first Falcon to play in the game since Freddie Barnes played in the contest in 2010.

This year's East-West Shrine Game will be played at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Saturday, Jan. 18. The game will kick off at 4 p.m. and will be televised by the NFL Network.

This season Bayer was named All-Mid-American Conference third team for the second year in a row. He caught 34 passes for 536 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games, ranking second on the BG team in all three categories.
