BG sweeps, will host 1st-round playoff series

BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green hockey team wrapped up a two-game sweep of visiting Bemidji State with a 5-2 win over the Beavers in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action on Saturday.

The Falcons (16-14-6 overall, 13-11-4 WCHA) finish fourth in the standings and will host a best-of-three first-round WCHA playoff series with Michigan Tech starting Friday.

Kevin Dufour scored twice for the Falcons while Bryce Williamson, Ben Murphy, and Dan DaSalvo each tallied goals for BG.

The Beavers (10-19-7, 10-14-4) got goals from Radoslav Illo and Markud Gerbrandt.

BSU lead 2-1 early in the second period before Dufour’s first goal of the night tied the game and Murphy tallied the eventual game-winner with 3:09 left in the second period.

Tommy Burke finished with 19 saves in net for BG.
