    • The days of summer have all but boiled away, but the smell and taste of various parties still linger in the air. Each organization that took a crack at hosting a lobster party added its own special flavor to the events.

    It was a New England Evening on Sept. 10, presented by The Toledo Symphony League at Toledo Country Club.

    Lighthouse-shaped candles and shells graced the tables and a giant ice sculpture of a lighthouse anchored the buffet. The tasty menu boasted fresh Maine lobster accompanied by steamed clams, clam chowders, sweet corn pudding, and striped new potatoes with brownies and strawberry, peach, and blueberry shortcake for dessert.

    But the real fun was whittling away the time chatting and dancing to Platt III band.

    Chairman Barbara Waite-Shenk and co-chairman Mary Ann Kline were assisted by president Beverly Zielinski, Lynda Gilbert, Noreen Drewicz, and Betty Rusch.

    Seen were Liz and Ed Koster, Karen and Carlton Fraker, Jackie Rousseau Werner and Hank Werner, Fran and Dick Anderson, Marlene and Tom Uhler, Dick and Shirley Smith, Kathy and Chuck Reynolds, Don and Mary Decker, Mary and Howard Madigan, and Chuck and Sue Vrooman, who cut a rug on the dance floor.

    Guests feasted on Maine lobster, steak, and more during Toledo Sailing Club's Annual Lobster Fest Labor Day weekend. The view of the Maumee River set the scene for revelers, many of who arrived via boat.

    THE Toledo Country Club's Annual Lobster and Steak Party on Aug. 14 offered a swanky martini and cigar lounge in the outdoor gazebo overlooking the Maumee.

    Chilled seafood appetizers and dinner - whole Maine lobsters - were served indoors. Then it was back outside for flaming desserts and dancing under the stars to the smooth sounds of the KGB band.

    A LOBSTER cookout was July 17 at Belmont Country Club with fresh steamed clams, oodles of shrimp, marinated mussels, crab claws, and of course, whole Maine lobster.

    Side dishes served family style was an added touch. Berry tiramisu topped the meal, but those extra calories melted during dancing.

    Seen were Robin and Pat Stranahan, Marv and Nancy Robon, Darla and Chris Clark, Jacque and Rick Yocum, Linda and Steve Stanford, Jalna and Ken MacLaren, and Gina Shiffert and Tom Tillander in their new digs, rebuilding after a major fire last year.
