Lots of things can be scary, especially a frightfully fun Halloween party.

THE COOL CAT Strut was Friday night at St. Clements Hall. More than 100 guests purred to the music as they nibbled treats and vied for prizes. The event raised $6,600 for Paws and Whiskers.

A GHOULISH affair was Saturday at the home of Joey Skaff for a host of friends.

SATURDAY night was the second annual Bones Bash for the Arthritis Foundation at Heatherdowns Country Club. Those who appeared were treated to everything from fortune tellers and a costume contest to a silent auction, dancing, snacks, and more.

A KIDS SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN PARTY was Saturday for members of Highland Meadows Golf Club. The fun afternoon included games, face painting, prizes, a costume contest, and a bonfire with Jeff Stewart on acoustic guitar.

THE SECOND ANNUAL Bloody Mary Taste-Off was Sunday afternoon at the Perrysburg home of Jill and Mike Servoss. The casual brunch, started by Mrs. Servoss, Cyndi Sculfort, and Shelly Konz, included a Bloody Mary contest with six contestants and six judges.

The winner was Mrs. Konz, and the people's choice winner was Mrs. Servoss. Guests brought their favorite foods, and chef Chuck Metz whipped up some fabulous eggs benedict in traditional, lobster, and chorizo styles along with perogies, bread pudding, and more.

SYLVANIA Country Club's annual family Halloween Bash was Sunday. More than 300 members enjoyed hay rides, Halloween crafts, and a costume parade all set to eerie tunes. There was also a Haunted House for the big kids as well as caramel and pumpkin martinis for adults.

Upcoming haunted parties include:

THE Toledo Museum of Art's preview Party for the Egyptian exhibit "A Night at the Tombs" is 6:30 to 9:30 Thursday night, and it should be a hoot as attendees-- many in Egyptian-themed costumes -- roam the artifacts. Who knows? There may be a mummy walking around!

THE Toledo Club's Halloween party is 8 p.m.to midnight Friday for adult members and their guests. Lisa Rozanski created the party last year but this year joined forces with the club. And last year's sponsors strolled up again for this year: Walker Funeral Homes and Crematory, Enhanced Living Solutions, Homestead Senior Care, Accessible Renovations, Kirk Mizerek, and the Toledo Club. The event includes food, PhotoBooth Live, a DJ for dancing, and a cash bar.

A HALLOWEEN Bash is Saturday night at The Event Center presented by Toledo Ski Club, Toledo Sport and Social Club, Work Play Live Toledo, and Hostelling International Toledo Area Council. A DJ will play haunting music, there will be appetizers and desserts, and a cash bar along with prizes for the best costumes. The cost is $8 and the event is open to the public.

THE TOMBSTONE Derby motorized casket racing presented by the Elmore Chamber of Commerce is Saturday at Depot Park in Elmore. In addition to the races there will be a pie baking contest, pumpkin carving, crafts, vendors, fortune tellers, ghost stories, "body" and "cadaver" tosses, a pet costume contest, and a parade of caskets. The fun starts around noon and continues until about 7 p.m. For details contact 419-350-8560 or go to the Elmore Chamber of Commerce Web site.

A SPOOKTACULAR Halloween program is at the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library. The event includes magician Andrew Martin and his "Count Wakula's Funny Fest!" The free family affair is 2 p.m. Saturday. Also included will be ghoulish gags and non-scary treats. Information: toledolibrary.org or call 419-259-5207.

Have a spooktacular time !
