Dan and Diane Kazmierczak recently hosted their Fourth Annual Float Party. Nearly 70 friends brought their flotation devices to the Waterville bridge and floated about two miles down the Maumee River to the Kazmierczak home. A pool party with Mexican food by Carlos Mendez of Cocina de Carlos followed.

Among those enjoying the cruise and party were Lynn and Joyce Olman, Joel and Benet Rupp, John and Amy Spangler, Jim Cameron, Nancy Hart, Marc and Bonnie Streeter, James and Heidi Blier, Mike Zapiecki and Candy Millon, Dennis and Kathy Granzow, Tod and Nancy Burhans, Rob and Dayna Stewart, Brian and Rebecca Conrad, Rob and Marjy Gilmer.
RE/MAX party-goesrs included Al Tinney of Waterford Bank, Ken Wood of Martin & Wood Appraisal, and John Mangas.
Burgers were grilling and suds were flowing at the Sixth Annual RE/MAX Preferred Parking Lot Party on Executive Parkway. The event was for kids of all ages and the nearly $700 in proceeds benefit the local chapter of the Children's Miracle Network.
Indy and NASCAR driver Sam Hornish, Jr., visited Mercy Children's Hospital in Defiance. Here he is with Maurice and Mirah Carlton. Mirah visits Mercy occasionally to be treated for Sickle Cell Anemia.
A bouncy house for the younger ones, and even for a few of the more mature folks, added extra entertainment. A bake sale offered assorted goodies ranging from pies to cheesecakes.
DJ Nick Amlin entertained and a live performance by Jeff Stewart rocked the group well into the evening.
Mingling in the crowd of about 200 were Dan and Jane Haley, Rob Griffey, Nicole Helminiak, and Jim Lindsay.
A nice gesture by a nice guy. Sam Hornish, Jr., local IndyCar champion and NASCAR Nationwide series driver visited Mercy Children's Hospital while he was home. Sam is originally from Defiance, Ohio and his family still has a home in Napoleon.
Sam was at the home in Napoleon between races and wanted to visit sick children at his local hospital. Hospital employee Misty Stroupe, whose fiancee, Scott Blackburn, is Sam's tire specialist and interior guy, asked him to visit the children, and she said Mr. Hornish, a family man, said yes right away.
