THE DO IT Group met Dec. 12 at the Players Club on Sylvania Avenue to raise funds for low-income families who do not receive food stamps or financial assistance. The group, started in 1966, raised nearly $8,000, which paid for staples including food, cleaning, and hygiene products for 10 families. The remainder of the money went to local charities such as Helping Hands, said Jeff James. Among the many members are Bob Lohmeyer, Greg Loeb, Al Mollenkamp, Ron Buermele, George Francis, Norm Tanber, Kenny Myer, and Bob McCloud.

THE FEAST of Christmas Present! fund-raiser Dec. 8 at Manhattan's Restaurant raised about $5,000 for the Toledo Repertoire Theatre. After the season's final production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at the Valentine Theatre, cast members joined family and friends for a buffet, raffles, silent auction, and songs of the season by the Dickens Singers.

THE Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis Dec. 7 at the Shops at Fallen Timbers in Maumee raised more than $23,000 for the Arthritis Foundation, Northwest Ohio. Mark Barnes of Holland, who has raised more than $20,000 for the organization, was the adult honoree.

BRANDYWINE Country Club's 43rd annual Christmas Charity Auction Dec. 4 raised more than $24,000 to help 52 families affected by cystic fibrosis and hemophilia. About 250 women enjoyed lunch, raffles, and an auction by Jerry Anderson of WTOL-TV, Channel 11.

The money paid for household items, clothing, toys, gas cards, and grocery cards.

Event chairman Mary Ellen Helminski and co-chairman Maria Georger were assisted by countless volunteers including Jan Briner, Anne Baker, Marilyn Fox, and Alice Schorling.

CHRISTMAS by Candlelight to benefit Beach House family shelter Dec. 3 at St. Clement Parish Hall raised $16,000. Event chairman Katrina Iott said the event incurred no expenses because everything was donated. Kudos to the 34 table hosts and volunteers including Beth Collins, Tina Roth, Bobbee Clawson, and Susan Smith.
