A CLOSING Down the Club/Everything Must Go Party was Jan. 4 at Toledo Country Club. The club is not closing permanently, just taking a break to get ready for the new year of fun. Members were invited to help the club go out with a bang so it can prepare for the re-opening on Jan. 22.

Complimentary wines by the glass and specialty beers all needed to be used up so the coolers could be cleaned out. There were grazing stations, too.

The casual affair was one where blue jeans were welcomed — a rare deal for a country club. Karoke with a DJ had guests partying all evening.

The nearly 150 attendees packed the dance floor to music by Cleveland's Sammy DeLeon and his orchestra.

MEMBERS of EPIC Toledo, Engaging People Inspiring Change, gathered at Poco Piatti last Thursday for fun and networking.

The group, created by the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2008 to attract and retain young professional talent to the area, helps develop future business and community leaders. For information contact Sara Swisher at epic@toledochamber.com or call 419-243-8191.

ANOTHER group, the Society of Young Professionals, started in January of 2012 by the Maumee Chamber of Commerce for business professionals ages 40 and younger. The group hosts social, charitable, and educational events to help young professionals connect with business leaders and to get involved with the community.

SYP recently joined with other cities across the nation to do monthly Cash Mob events in support of local businesses. This month's Cash Mob is today at Dale's Bar and Grill in Maumee. Many mobsters will be there around noon, although the event runs all day, so the after-work crowd can join in the fun. The mob is encouraging patrons to spend about $20, but any amount will be welcome. For information go to www.maumeecashmob.com
