Trinity Weathers, 8, a third grade student at Wernert Elementary, reads a book with Lamis Younes, 17, a Whitmer High student, at the Barnes & Noble on Monroe Street. Students earned a trip to the store Monday, today, and Wednesday through Wernert’s Book Tree Project. Barnes & Noble, Columbia Gas, Brondes Ford, and Graybar Electric are enabling all students to select a summer book with the help of volunteer mentors from Whitmer and the community.
