Owens Community College
Owens Community College, in conjunction with Toledo Botanical Gardens and Toledo GROWS, is offering a new Urban Agriculture Certificate Program. This program teaches students about farming in the city. The hands-on classes include Urban Horticulture and Sustainability, Greenhouse Production and Management, Urban Livestock, Organic Crop Production, Harvest & Post Harvest Technology, Government, and Business. Students will also gain field experience working for Toledo Grows during the summer. Successful graduates of the Certificate program should have the job skills and technical knowledge necessary for employment with green industry employers such as produce farms, community-shared agriculture, landscape companies, greenhouses, nurseries and more.
In August, Lourdes College will officially transition to Lourdes University during the institutionís opening of the fall semester. The transition is part of Lourdesí strategic plan which sets forth five directives, one of which is a move to university status.
'University status reflects the extraordinary growth and progress that Lourdes has experienced in recent years,' shares President Bob Helmer.
Students at Lourdes University will benefit from a number of new offerings such as a dining hall, graduate programs in business, liberal arts and nurse anesthesia and intercollegiate athletic programs including baseball, men's volleyball and womenís basketball. Discover a new U at lourdes.edu.
