Obituaries

Beatrice "Bea" Borchert, age 80, passed away on May 3, 2013, in Bradenton, Florida while preparing to come back to her cottage in Hillsdale, MI for the summer. She was born on December 27, 1932, to Eli and Jeannette Stemen. Bea was a 1950 graduate of Olney High School in Northwood, Ohio. She married Wendell Borchert on December 26, 1970, and he preceded her in death in 2008. Beatrice had worked for Jobst Institute, retiring 25 years ago.
Bea first and foremost loved to dance. Those who knew her probably had a dance with her. She learned to paint watercolors after her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, boating, fishing, gardening, reading, watching Detroit Tigers baseball and playing words with friends on her new iPad. Her love of family and friends was evident to all. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her children, JanNell (Mike) Patronik of Rossford, Robin (John) Shrader of Sylvania, Karen (Bill) Dean of Louisville, KY, William (Lisa) Borchert of Toledo and Shelly (Tom) Scheanwald of Curtice, OH; grandchildren, Abby (Rob) Dean-Hicks, Molly (Brandon) Wallace, Eric Patronik, DeAnn Patronik, Ross Gerken, Darcy Gerken, Lauren Scheanwald, Leslie Scheanwald, Alan Scheanwald, Matthew Borchert, Ryan Shrader, Cole Shrader and Lauren Shrader. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Lydia and Jude Wallace and Madelyn Zalewski, and her ex-husband, Richard Hero.

Barbara May "Barb" Brandeberry, age 70, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Heartland of Waterville. She was born on September 22, 1942, to Frederick and Edith (Patrick) Benton in Westerville, Ohio. Barb was a charter member of Bedford Alliance Church. She was a leader of Bible study groups and the Alliance Women's Ministries (WMPF). Barb was a wonderful singer and taught a variety of music. She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles and was the best scrabble player around. Barb loved nothing more than the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Kay Sherwood. Barb is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Raymond Brandeberry, I; children, Sharon (TJ) Johns, Lisa (Gary) Butler, Connie (Matt) Bryant and Bryan (Kelley) Brandeberry; 14 grandchildren; brother, Ray (Jan) Benton; "adopted" son, Art (Holly) Siegert and his four children, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Thursday from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will take place Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Bedford Alliance Church, 8645 Jackman Rd., Temperance, MI 48182 with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.

Nora C. Hagedorn, age 76, of Toledo, passed away on May 16, 2013.
She was born in Toledo to Marcus and Adeline (Gaynier) Mack on December 18, 1936. She worked for Blue Cross for many years, retiring in 1989. Nora loved her granddaughters (and cats). She had an open and generous heart and an unforgettable laugh.
Nora is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Tom) Thomas; granddaughters, Pamela, Paula and Stephanie.
Family and friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Tuesday, May 21st from 2:00-8:00 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the mortuary, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Monroe, MI.

Mark R. Koechley, age 71, passed away on May 9, 2013, at Lake Park Comfort Care. He was born May 15, 1941, to Cornelius and Kathryn (Wilhauck) Koechley in Toledo, Ohio. Mark was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School, class of 1959, where he ran track, played football and basketball, and was proud to be a "Cake-Eater". He honorably served his country for four years in the Navy on the USS Bigelow. Mark retired after 33+ years of employment from GM Powertrain and was a member of UAW Local 14. He was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Mark enjoyed cooking, traveling, golf, reading books, watching movies and attending his granddaughters' school functions, sporting events, and music, dance and baton recitals. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marilyn Orr. He is survived by his loving wife, of 46 years, Pat; children, Kristine (Glenn) Soldner, Kathryn (Clyde) Lefever, and Jason Koechley; grandchildren, Kelsey, Kaitlyn, Jillian, and Ainsley Soldner, Coral, Chloe, and Paige Lefever; brother, Jack (Jan) Koechley; sisters, Barbara Sidle, and Joan Lockrey; special niece, Tracy Orr and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kasunic and the oncology staff at the Toledo Clinic.
