MANKATO, Minn. — The Bowling Green State University hockey team scored three power-play goals on the way to a 4-1 victory over No. 5 Minnesota State in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association contest Saturday.

The Falcons (6-4-3) split their weekend road series with the Mavericks, the first-place team in the WCHA standings. The victory allows BG to maintain its hold on second place in the league with a 5-2-3-2 mark.

Minnesota State is 9-4 overall and 7-3 in the WCHA.

The Mavericks scored the lone goal of the first period thanks to a power-play tally by Jake Jaremko with just 28 seconds left in the period.

Bowling Green’s Mitch McLain tied the game with his fifth goal of the season at 2:39 of the second period, and Alec Rauhauser scored a power-play goal with just 19 seconds left to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead.

Max Johnson scored on the power play just 54 seconds into the third period, and Rauhauser added a third power-play goal with just 12 seconds to go to seal the win for the Falcons.

Ryan Bednard finished with 20 saves to earn the victory in net for Bowling Green, while Connor LaCouvee stopped 20 shots for Minnesota State.
