BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University tied Bemidji State 3-3 in a double overtime Western Collegiate Hockey Association contest Saturday at the Slater Family Ice Arena.
After a 5-on-5 overtime and 3-on-3 overtime did not produce any goals, the Beavers won a shootout to claim the extra point in the WCHA standings. Bemidji State’s Jay Dickman scored on BG’s Ryan Bednard, while Stephen Baylis was stopped by Beavers’ netminder Michael Bitzer to end the shootout.
The Falcons earned four of a possible six points in their weekend series with the Beavers after claiming a 3-1 victory Friday.
Bowling Green now is 7-5-5 overall and 6-2-4-2 in WCHA play, while Bemidji State improved to 5-6-3 overall and 2-4-2-2 in the league.
Brett D’Andrea, Sam Craggs and Lukas Craggs scored for the Falcons, with Lukas Craggs netting his goal with just 54 seconds left in regulation after BG had pulled Bednard for an extra attacker.
Adam Brady, Dillon Eichstadt and Ian Janco scored for Bemidji State, with Brady’s goal coming on a first-period power play.
Bednard finished with 29 saves for Bowling Green, while Michael Bitzer stopped 25 shots for the Beavers.
