In a rematch of last year’s Mid-American Conference championship game, the University of Toledo women’s basketball team found itself trailing late against Northern Illinois on Saturday at Savage Arena.

Puk’s 3-pointer lifts BGSU over Akron
AKRON — Things had gone painfully wrong for the Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team Saturday.
A good first half had been washed away by a poor second half, and the Falcons trailed by seven points with 2 minutes, 23 seconds to play at Akron’s James A. Rhodes Arena.
Yet BG found a way to bounce off the mat, outscore the Zips 10-1 in the final two minutes and claim a 66-64 victory — the Falcons’ first Mid-American Conference win of the season. FULL STORY

Michigan earns signature win at Michigan State
EAST LANSING — In their most recent meeting, on Feb. 7 of last year, Michigan humiliated Michigan State by 29 points. It marked the worst loss to the Wolverines during Tom Izzo’s tenure at MSU.
In their past two games, the Spartans — then No. 1 — lost by 16 points at Ohio State and escaped in overtime against lowly Rutgers at home. Probably not the sequence Michigan wanted as it traveled to the Breslin Center on Saturday.
But this bunch of Wolverines didn’t care. They ventured into enemy territory and sauntered out with an 82-72 win, a signature victory in an evolving season, and the first double-digit win at Michigan State since 1997. FULL STORY
Rockets pick up road win at Central Michigan
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Nothing cures the road doldrums like a hot-shooting night.
Battling Central Michigan has been a daunting task for the University of Toledo men’s basketball team at McGuirk Arena the past few seasons.
Riding a three-game skid at the home of the Chippewas and losing seven of the past nine matchups in Mount Pleasant, the Rockets flipped the script Saturday and earned a 93-82 win by knocking down a season-high 14 3-pointers. FULL STORY
AKRON — The official record will show the Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team lost Saturday at Akron because of a last-second shot.
But there were plenty of other contributors to the Falcons’ 80-78 loss to the Zips at James A. Rhodes Arena besides the 3-pointer by Virshon Cotton with just 3.7 seconds to go. FULL STORY ■ TURNER NOT PLAYING LIKE A FRESHMAN FOR FALCONS
