Cameron Jefferies, who appeared in 21 games and started 12 times during the past two seasons, will leave BG as a graduate transfer. Jefferies announced the decision on Twitter, and BG confirmed he would transfer in an email.

The junior from Painesville (Ohio) Riverside said he is on track to graduate from BGSU in August, at which point he will be free to transfer without penalty.

He has two years of eligibility remaining at his next school.

Jefferies had 36 tackles and seven passes defended in 2017, and he also returned a fumble for a touchdown in the Falcons’ loss at Michigan State.

The secondary is the most experienced unit on a Bowling Green defense that rated last in the Mid-American Conference statistically in 2017. Cornerback Clint Stephens has 21 career starts, nickel back Marcus Milton has 13, and sophomore Ty Redding and freshman Sy Dabney pushed for playing time in spring practice.
