Joel Whymer added to BG women's basketball staff

BOWLING GREEN — New Bowling Green State University women’s basketball coach Robyn Fralick has finished filling her coaching staff with the addition of Joel Whymer as an assistant coach.
Whymer has spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach at Division II Wayne State, where he helped the Warriors compile a 19-8 record last season — including a 14-6 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Association competition. Whymer also served as head coach of Wayne State’s JV squad, which went 14-1 the past two seasons.
“We are so excited to have Joel Whymer join us at Bowling Green,” Fralick said in a release. “We believe he will be a great fit on our staff and at the university.
“Some qualities that really stand out about Joel are his work ethic, investment in student-athletes, and his commitment to recruiting. He will make a positive impact on our program.”
Before taking the post at Wayne State, Whymer spent one season as head coach at St Clair County Community College. He led the Skippers to a 25-6 overall record and a share of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Eastern Conference championship with a 13-3 league mark.
Whymer also served two seasons as the boys basketball coach at Marine City High School, a town roughly 50 miles northeast of Detroit along the Canadian border.

“I am excited to get to work with this entire coaching staff to help give our student-athletes a championship experience.”

Whymer is the latest GLIAC connection for Fralick, who spent the past three seasons at GLIAC member Ashland University. Assistant coach Kim Cameron spent 13 seasons as a coach at Michigan Tech, including the past eight as head coach, while fellow assistant Karmen Graham was a graduate assistant at Ashland when Fralick was an assistant coach there.
The rest of the Bowling Green staff has Monique Rosati as director of basketball operations and Amanda Cutcher as video coordinator.
