Toledo man convicted in robberies gets 12 years

The first of six men convicted for involvement in a series of robberies of local businesses was sentenced Thursday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to time in prison.

Bryant Espinoza, 22, of 4163 Rohr Drive pleaded guilty May 12 to two counts of robbery. Thursday, Judge Ruth Ann Franks sentenced him to six years in prison for each offense for a total of 12 years behind bars.

Espinoza admitted involvement in the robberies of White Castle restaurant, 1615 Cherry St., on Feb. 14, and a Red Roof Inn, 3530 Executive Pkwy,, on March 6. In both cases, Espinoza or an accomplice showed a weapon.

As part of the negotiated plea, two counts of aggravated robbery were dismissed and Espinoza was ordered to pay $1,781.44 in restitution to White Castle, Red Roof, and four other businesses.
