A Toledo man who evaded law enforcement for two years while calling in taunting reports of his whereabouts has been found competent to stand trial.

David Slover, 38, of 154 Poplar, is charged with one count of failure to verify. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.

Slover was indicted in February, 2009, but failed to show for his July, 2009, trial date. He eluded authorities for two years before his June 6 arrest.

Judge James Jensen found Slover competent to stand trial and set an Aug. 1 trial date.
