BOWLING GREEN — A local man who stole cash from coats and purses from people at church services and from an employer has been sentenced to 21 months in prison.

Rusty Baumbarger, 33, of Bowling Green also was ordered this week by Wood County Common Pleas Judge Robert Pollex to pay $14,600 in restitution.

Baumbarger pleaded guilty in May to two counts of theft for stealing more than $1,000 from parishioners at two local churches between Jan. 23 and March 6, and for stealing jewelry valued at more than $10,000 from a house where he was doing work.
