A Toledo man charged in an October shooting death was indicted by a Lucas County grand jury Monday on two alternate counts of murder, each with a gun specification.

Paul Cooper, 32, of 2838 Elm St. is accused of killing Michael Heidtman, 29, of Toledo about 11:45 p.m. Oct. 26 in the 4000 block of Lewis Avenue. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison. He is in the Lucas County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond.

Police say Heidtman was shot inside an apartment during an altercation, but witness statements indicate that Heidtman was the passenger in a car when he was shot.

Cooper turned himself in to authorities Nov. 2.
