3 store workers charged with food-stamp fraud

State investigators have charged three employees of a West Toledo convenience store with food-stamp fraud, accusing them of allowing customers to purchase alcohol and other nonfood items with food stamps.

New Millennium Ohio LLC, 4306 W. Sylvania Ave., also faces administrative charges for violations of state liquor laws at the store, which has a BP gas station.

The Ohio Investigative Unit, part of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, charged Sharon Singh, 49, with three counts of misuse of a credit card and two counts of illegal use of food stamps, Navpreet K. Gothra, 25, with two counts of misuse of a credit card, and Elizabeth Hatch, 21, with one count each of credit-card misuse and illegal use of food stamps. All are from Toledo.

Charges against the three were filed in Toledo Municipal Court.

Other charges through the Ohio Liquor Control Commission included six counts of illegal food stamps and two counts of trafficking in food stamps.
