Man charged with hindinering homicide investigation

A Toledo man is charged with hindering a city homicide investigation by throwing away evidence and lying to police, according to court documents.

Police have charged Xavier Tate, 28, of 161 Austin St., with obstructing official business and tampering with evidence.

Tate was arraigned Tuesday in Toledo Municipal Court by Judge Amy Berling, and today posted a $100,000 bond.

Toledo police Capt. Jim O’Bryant said investigating officials did not want to comment on the arrest and could not say which homicide investigation the man is accused of obstructing.

The complaint filed in municipal court was dated June 10, the same day Lasean Robinson, 29, was found dead, laying naked and face down in a field with a single gunshot wound to the head.

The complaints do not indicate what case the arrest is connected to, only that the suspect allegedly removed, concealed, and disposed of evidence from a homicide investigation “which impaired the availability of the evidence.”

A second complaint states that the suspect lied to the investigating detective during a homicide investigation.
