A Toledo mother accused of killing her 6-month-old son by throwing him against a hard surface was indicted Thursday by a Lucas County grand jury.

Amanda Bacon, 25, of 504 W. Alexis Rd. is charged with murder and child endangering. If convicted, she faces up to life in prison.

Ms. Bacon is accused of throwing her son, Avery Glynn Bacon, during a fit of rage, causing multiple skull fractures and brain damage sometime on Dec. 16.

The infant was taken to Mercy St. Anne Hospital on Dec. 17. He was transferred to Mercy St. Vincent Hospital, then flown to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he died Dec. 18.

Ms. Bacon was being held in the Lucas County jail Thursday in lieu of $1 million bond. Her next court appearance remained to be scheduled pending the assignment of a judge to the case.
