Five people were indicted Friday by a Lucas County grand jury in connection with an attempted break-in that was cut short when an off-duty sheriff’s deputy shot one of the suspects.

Indicted for conspiracy to commit burglary were Andrew Short, 18, of Starr Avenue; Brook Wilkes, 20, of Forsythe Street; Jenna Oliver, 19, of Akron Street; Joshua Druyor, 18, of Oak Street, and Michael Stowe, 22, of Maumee Western Road in Monclova Township. Mr. Short, Ms. Wilkes, and Ms. Oliver also were indicted for aggravated robbery with a firearm specification.

Lucas County Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Hannon was letting his dog out about 1:20 a.m. April 18 in the 2600 block of 119th Street when two men approached, one of whom pointed a gun at him. Police said Mr. Hannon fired a single shot, injuring Mr. Short, who was treated at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.
