Jury convicts inmate in assault of prison guard

A Sandusky man serving a life sentence for murder was found guilty of 2012 assault on a corrections officer Tuesday following a two-day jury trial in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Brandon Holt, 34, was sentenced by Judge Gene Zmuda to eight months in prison to run concurrent to the sentence he is serving for aggravated murder, rape, and aggravated burglary for the 2002 death of Deborah Jensen, 48, in Sandusky.

Holt assaulted a guard at Toledo Correctional Institution on July 10. His first trial on the charge ended with a hung jury.
